We are in receipt of communication from the Ministry of Health notifying stakeholders of the suspension of the Jitenge Local App. Travelers will no longer be required to submit their daily information on the 'Jitenge app' when traveling locally. The suspension has been necessitated by technical challenges with the app, which contributed to lengthy delays at the airports and in the submission of local traveler information. However, take note that the se of 'Jitenge' continues for international travel.

  • Kenya does NOT require COVID-19 testing before departure. However, all passengers departing Kenya must ensure they know and abide by the COVID-19 testing requirements at the destination and /or transit points.
  • Travelers from the UK to Kenya will no longer be required to self isolate for 7 days. Kenya was moved to UK green list and no longer advises against non essential travel to Kenya.
  • The Foreign & Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO) announced that it has lifted its advice against all but essential travel to most African countries including Uganda and Tanzania. The office announced that it will no longer advise against travel to non-red list countries on COVID-19 grounds, except in exceptional circumstances such as if the local healthcare system is overwhelmed.

This means that Kenya is now fully open to those arriving from most locations (including the USA, Canada, India, UK & Europe)

Safety Policies & Procedures

We have stepped up our hygiene routines as part of mitigation against COVID-19 in compliance with protocols issued by the Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization. Click here to read more on our mitigation protocols.

Conservation & Community

The Porini Safari Camps are environmentally-friendly Eco-Camps that have been established in exclusive Wildlife Conservancies and are carefully managed to ensure that local communities, the environment and visitors benefit from our Conservancy concept. We ensure that the communities living alongside national parks and reserves derive tangible benefits from conserving the indigenous habitat for wildlife. Visitors gain a superior safari experience in pristine, game-filled areas where the wildlife is safe and protected. Read more about Responsible Tourism here.

We own and operate Porini Amboseli Camp within Selenkay Conservancy, generating an income and employment opportunities for local people. The community is receiving a rent for the lease of the area by Porini Safari Camps, plus an entry fee for each tourist visitor. All roads have been constructed using local labour so that the members of the community gain employment from the Conservancy. In addition to the road maintenance team, Game Scouts have been employed to carry out patrols to see that the wildlife is protected.

Porini Camps have each been awarded a Gold Eco-Rating by Ecotourism Kenya who promote environmental and social responsible practices within the tourism industry. Click here to download the full report: Porini Amboseli Camp Ecotourism Kenya Report.
