Adventure, enchantment and ‘Luxury, naturally’ - all delivered with a quiet, understated charm and understanding of place – is the guiding philosophy of Sanctuary Retreats and one of our remote luxury safari camps, Sanctuary Swala.

Sanctuary Swala is located in an exceptionally private section of the Tarangire National Park, offering visitors a luxurious and exclusive safari experience. Elephant in particular love to come to the camp to drink at the water hole and big cats are often seen among the massive baobab trees.

Sanctuary Swala has been built to the highest eco-friendly standards and offers 12 luxurious open-plan and spacious canvas tents; all shaded by acacia trees and within site of the waterhole frequented by elephants and big cats. Each tent has an ensuite bathroom with indoor and outdoor shower and features a spacious open plan arrangement with comfortable king or twin beds, campaign chairs and plush sofas.

A hair dryer, ceiling fan, in room safe, mosquito nets and private deck are available in all tents. Each tent has a personal attendant to attend to guests’ every need. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available in the main area and in all guests’ tents.

The main dining area, deck and library are lifted on stilts around an enormous and ancient baobab tree. Electricity supply is a combination of silent packed generator and battery system allowing 24-hour power supply

Sanctuary Olonana is an exceptional luxury safari lodge set on a private stretch of the Mara River in the heart of Kenya’s most famous game reserve, the Masai Mara.

Featuring 14 glass-sided suites, Sanctuary Olonana is inspired by the Masai Mara’s breath-taking natural wonders, an abundance of wildlife, and a dramatic river which runs right past its forest setting. Game drives, cultural visits, bush dinners, sundowners, scenic flights and balloon rides, Olonana makes for a wonderful African safari.

The  Geoffrey  Kent  Suite,  launched  in  2019,  allows  travellers  to  immerse  themselves  in  secluded  ultra-luxury  in  this sophisticated  free-flowing  space.  Guests  will  enjoy  two  ensuite  bedrooms,  an  additional  family  room,  wraparound private decking and infinity pool,  lounge  and dining area,  and private  vehicle and safari guide.

Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Lodge is nestled deep inside Bwindi Impenetrable Forest; a UNESCO World Heritage Site in southwest Uganda, home to almost half the world’s last surviving mountain gorillas.

Located within Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Lodge is the perfect base from which to track the park’s most famous resident – the mountain gorilla. Due to its unique location, it’s not unusual for the gorilla families to visit the camp itself. This luxury camp features ten rooms and a bar, lounge and dining area overlooking the rainforest.

Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero is a luxurious riverside retreat in the heart of the bush on the edge of Chobe National Park, home to the worlds largest remaining population of elephants.

Sitting above the Chobe River, the lodge offers unparalleled panoramic views across the islands and floodplains as far across as Namibia. This is an incredibly luxurious lodge with just 15 suites, as well as the only full spa on the Botswana safari circuit. Relax in the split-level swimming pool, unwind with a pampering session in the spa or enjoy the gourmet food that the lodge has become known for.

Botswana’s Okavango Delta is a paradox: a vast patchwork of waterways, lagoons and islands on the edge of the Kalahari Desert. Generally flooded in the summer months, it retains its watery features all year and is home to many of Africa’s iconic species. Exploring by motor launch or mokoro (canoe), you see everything from hippos to exquisite painted reed frogs, while lions, leopards and wild dogs hold their territories here all year. Newly rebuilt in 2025 to the highest design standards, Baines’ Lodge could not be closer to the water. Chic but understated, its six suites rise on stilts from the swaying papyrus reeds.

This intimate, handcrafted camp is set on the extravagantly beautiful Chief’s Island amid the vast watery splendor of the Okavango Delta. Its days as a royal hunting ground (hence its name) are over, but the island’s beauty remains and the wildlife flourishes – Chief’s Camp, in a luxuriantly leafy spot beside the water, is quite literally surrounded by what may well be the richest concentration of animals in Botswana, year-round. Dry season is the best time to see big cats; then as seasonal water levels rise, animals flock to the area, and the island is the ideal spot for wildlife to retreat to as they seek higher ground.

Sanctuary Stanleys Camp is built on a 260,000 acre private concession in the renowned Okavango Delta. This traditional safari camp has a large lounge area and dining area with incredible views over the floodplains in front of camp. The main area features a bar from where refreshing drinks are always served with a smile, a small library area and curio shop. From the swimming pool - a real treat after a hot day of game viewing - guests can watch giraffe and other plains game march across the savannah and sometimes catch a glimpse of rare wild dogs. Everything about Sanctuary Stanleys Camp is built to the highest ecological standards so that we dont damage this highly sensitive area.

Sanctuary Sussi & Chuma is built on a dramatic bend of the Zambezi River in the Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park, twelve kilometres upstream from the world-famous Victoria Falls.

Named after Dr. David Livingstones faithful friends Sussi and Chuma, the lodge is located in one of the most beautiful parts of the Zambezi amidst Jackalberry trees and Phoenix palms, providing unrivalled views and exclusivity. Accommodation is in twelve Sussi tree-houses, connected by wooden walkways.

Sanctuary Ngorongoro Crater Camp is located in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area - situated in the Ngorongoro Crater rim valley, close to the access road into the crater, giving guests unrivaled access to the crater floor.

The park is full of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo and elephants. Supported by a year-round supply of water and food; the park supports a massive variety of animals, including its impressive population of predators, including lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs and the elusive leopard.

The camp offers ten classic safari tents - each with its own en-suite bathroom. The tents also feature hairdryers and plug points and a small sitting area in front of each of the tents where early morning coffee and biscuits can be enjoyed before starting the day of incredible game viewing. The main common areas include a dining area, bar area and lounge area as well as comfortable sofas placed in specially-selected locations around the camp.

Nestled amongst fever trees in the shadow of Mount Kenya, Sanctuary Tambarare, opened June 2022, delivers the perfect balance of adventure and serenity. Sanctuary Tambarare looks out across the grassy plateau of the award-winning Ol Pejeta Conservancy, 90,000 acres of unspoilt African landscape, where the Big Five roam, including the last two northern white rhinos on earth.

With just 10 luxurious guest tents, Sanctuary Tambarare is a peaceful haven that reflects its surroundings – with a generous helping of indulgence. After adventurous days tracking lions, riding horses with rhinos or spotting giraffes, elephants, gazelle and zebra in this stunning wildlife retreat, guests can retire to the secluded tented camp for sundowners, relaxation and attentive five-star service.

This tiny oasis of luxury is nestled in the heart of the deserted Kaokoland, ensuring a rare tranquil experience. The dramatic earth-coloured architecture perfectly suits the epic landscape.
