As some of our followers may know, we banned all single use plastic from our camps a number of years ago (the first to do so in Tanzania) Unfortunately there are still times when plastic bottles are brought into camp from the outside. We however ensure that the plastic does not end up in landfill. At each of our camps we have a large bin that collects single use plastics. When the bin is full the contents are sent to our friends at DuniaDesigns in Arusha and they work their magic, recycling the plastic into school desks and more recently, furniture for our lodges! We are very proud of Lemala Kuria Hill's new boma furniture - 100% recycled plastic! We have to date saved over 100 TONS of plastic from going to landfill and will continue the fight again single use plastic
