Named for the area where the camp was first established, Karenge means ‘small footprint’ in Kinyarwanda. The word also expresses Karenge Bush Camp’s simple charm and commitment to leaving a light ecological footprint and allowing guests to be immersed in nature.
The main area comprises a dining tent with a lounge and outdoor firepit surrounded by chairs, all providing a view of the vast Kilala Plain.
A maximum of 16 guests makes a stay here an intimate wilderness experience. The seven charming canvas tents can be configured as twin or double tents and include a luxurious ensuite bathroom with flushing toilets, hot and cold water with stunning views of the Kilala Plain and Muhororo Hills. Each tent also enjoys its own private outdoor shower.
Karenge is open year-round and makes for a wonderful combination when paired with a stay at Ruzizi Lodge in the southern sector of the park
