Positioned on the edge of a 250-metre high dune, Dune Camp has the most extraordinary views across the Namibrand Reserve. The lounge, dining area and tea room are spread out across a series of interlocking decks, ensuring that every corner enjoys views across the endless landscape to the mountains beyond. The tented and wooden structures are perfectly designed for the desert, with canvas sides that can be opened to capture the cool breeze in summer, and rolled down in winter to keep you warm.

Dune Camp has a unique charm which appeals to travellers looking for a down to earth but stylish experience. The main areas are intimate and the fire pit encourages conversation between guests. We seat our guests at a long shared table for dinner, but private tables can also be requested.

As the name suggests, Boulders has been carefully located in and around the base of one of the massive outcrops of granite rocks in the NamibRand plains.  This tiny camp is 3 hours south of our other camps and is as far off the beaten track, as it can get.

From Boulders Camp you will explore the deep south of the NamibRand Nature Reserve. Guided scenic drives, long moments of solitude, two to three-hour walking safaris treading along the ancient hunting grounds of the bushmen, and eBiking on fat bikes are all available.

At the base of a rocky outcrop, with massive mountains towering behind, Boulders Camp looks out over an endless landscape of gravel plains, dotted with the tops of submerged mountains.

Boulders sleeps a maximum of 10 guests in five spacious tented rooms.

The main area consists of a dining and lounge tent, a breakfast deck, library, pool and an open fireplace. Sundowners can be enjoyed from the top of a mountainous rock plateau close by, delivering epic impressions of the vast beauty of the surroundings.

Each suite is well placed, with spacious decks and large rooms that open up on 3 sides allowing the afternoon breeze to refresh you. Each suite has a separate spacious bathroom as well as a sala for afternoon siestas and all the spaces are orientated to enjoy the endless views.

Suites 2 & 3, and 4 & 5 respectively share a plunge pool, while suite 1 has its own private plunge pool.

Positioned in one of the most enviable locations that the NamibRand has to offer, Desert Lodge has a stunning outlook. Think vast orange-hued dunes, mountains, rolling skies and, well, nothing…. This magnificent vista is at the heart of the lodge, and all the rooms and guest areas are perfectly positioned to make the most of the surroundings.

The lodge reflects the ambience of a tented camp but provides the comfort and protection of a permanent building. From the spacious main areas to the tented rooms, there are plenty of spaces to connect with fellow guests, enjoy some quiet time, or to simply relax and sink into the ‘Wolwedans Way.’

The 10 tented rooms are open to the beautiful desert vistas and have been built to maximise the views from all corners of the room. Each has a private verandah, connecting you to the swathes of untouched sand beyond. In fact, we highly recommend sleeping with your canvas blinds open to feel the soft evening breeze and marvel at the vast star-studded sky.

The extensive main complex is built across a series of decks atop the sand. There are two lounges, a number of sundowner decks, a tea deck, a library, a wine cellar and two dining rooms.

The Mountain View Suite is located within walking distance from Desert Lodge, but feels as if you are in your own private universe. The Suite is orientated to enjoy an expansive view down the valley to the mountains in the distance. Consisting of a spacious en-suite bedroom leading onto a pool deck, the space enables guests to enjoy the view of the valley to its fullest.

A shaded patio provides an ideal venue for meals and relaxed hours on the deck. Add to this a spacious lounge, ‘booze box’, dining area and you have a wonderful home away from home. The suite comes with its own chef, guide and vehicle.

This suite offers one en-suite bedroom (up to 2 adults), and a private lounge, dining area and fire-pit, plus an outside bathroom, a sleep-out deck and a plunge pool. The main veranda has a ‘star-gazing’ bed, which provides a wonderful sleep-out venue during summer.

Keeping in line with the traditional Wolwedans style, the ambience is that of plain elegance embraced by a natural, comfortable charm.

The most exclusive villa in the heart of the reserve, Plains Camp caters for 8 guests in 4 spacious en-suite rooms (2 master rooms and 2 standard rooms) and is the perfect getaway for families and friends seeking uncompromising privacy and solitude.  The villa’s open-plan design, utilising canvas and timber, allows uninterrupted views of the endless plains of the Namibrand reserve.

Plains Camp is your special home at Wolwedans. It demands nothing much of you, but to relax and gaze at the ever-changing colours of the desert.

This totally unique and beautiful structure, designed by the owner Stephan Bruckner, is built from timber and canvas creating a home that blends effortlessly into the surrounding desert plains with a seamless flow between indoor and outdoor spaces.  The canvas ‘walls’ can be opened up completely to allow the desert in or vice-versa should you want to feel a little more contained on those chilly winter nights. The Villa makes full use of the endless space and 2 bedrooms (4 in total) stretch out on each side of the main areas and pool interlinked by decking and seating areas providing space to relax and contemplate.

The Villa offers 4 spacious en-suite rooms (2 master rooms and 2 standard rooms), a ‘Sala’ where one can laze away siestas, various decks, a swimming pool, and the central lounge area that combines a study, living room, a dining area and a fully equipped kitchen. A private guide and vehicle, as well as a house manager and chef, complete your experience.
