Before Namiri Plains was built, these grasslands were closed for 20 years to allow the cheetah population to restore. The nearest other camps are over an hour’s drive away so you can experience the vast plains all to yourself.

Tarangire Kati Kati Tented Camp is a mobile camp strategically located within Tarangire National Park, specifically near the Silale Swamp. The camp is situated in a prime private campsite in the Silale area, one of the prime areas of the national park.

The camp consists of 11 tents, including a family tent – it can accommodate a variety of travelers. Additionally, there is a mess tent where meals are served, providing a communal space for our guests to dine and socialize. Zanzibar is located on the East coast of Tanzania, in the warm tropical waters of the Indian Ocean. It is a malaria-free area and has pleasant weather throughout the year. In the winter months of May and June, the island can experience seasonal rains. However, the south-east coast is generally drier than other parts of the island.

Simbavati Grumeti is nestled on the open plains between the Serengeti National Park and the Grumeti River, within Tanzania’s fabled northern safari circuit. It is on these acacia dotted plains that multitudes of wildlife congregate all year round in a game viewing spectacular.

These plains also play host to vast herds of wildebeest, which assemble during their annual migration and move between the north and south of the Serengeti National Park. You may also be lucky enough to see buffalo, giraffe, lion and other wildlife from your tent and the lodge.

Set on the outskirts of the Usangu floodplains, deep in the remote southern corner of Ruaha National Park, Usangu Expedition Camp offers an immersive, conservation driven experience for the adventurous traveller. This particular camp is located 17kms from Seronera HQ / Airstrip, and lies right in the heart of central Serengeti. The spectacular and secluded location of this camp boasts all year round game which choose to graze around the camp due to its lagoon type contoured landscape, where the camps is surrounded on three sides by water catchments. There are also large acacia trees spread sparingly across the camp which adds on to create a tranquil feel of the camp and also helps provide natural shading assisting to keep cool the tents during the hot summer months.

Nasikia Mobile Migration Camp Ndutu is located on the southern plains of Ndutu in the Ngorongoro Conservation area. The number of tents varies and never exceeds 12, so a maximum of 24 guests at any given time.

This is the ultimate and original tented camp experience with ensuite bathrooms, bucket showers, comfortable bedding, beautiful linens and a dining and lounge tent for relaxing and escaping the heat of the day or inclement weather. Simbavati Migration Camp is a beacon of luxury and adventure. This mobile camp moves its prime location twice a year, perfectly placed near the Mara River during the wildebeest migration, and just north of Lake Ndutu in the South of the Serengeti during the calving season.

Six luxurious mobile tents are positioned to embrace the tranquillity and majesty of the wilderness while twice-daily game drives seek out the wildebeest and a myriad of other wildlife on safari.

Wash off the 'safari powder' in the large shower recess or relax outside the tent to hear the sounds of the wild. Located on an elevated viewing point beside the famous Moru Kopjes, this tented camp allows for drive in and game package clients to explore the resident and migratory wild game all year round. The landscape pans from the great southern plains of the Serengeti into the central hub of the most famous national park in Africa, close to Seronera Airstrip. Kirurumu Serengeti North Camp is a luxury mobile camp, moved seasonally to take best advantage of the vast Serengeti. The camp is used as a base, a spring board for an early morning game drive, a break for a sumptuous lunch, a respite from the heat of the day and the finale to a days adventure where stories can be swapped around a fire. As a small and intimate camp the staff are on hand just to look after a very limited number of guests and so the level of attention and service is always excellent. The entire camp may be exclusively reserved for your private party. 

This Luxury Camp is ideally located within Central Seronera area of the famous Serengeti National Park in Tanzania around the vicinity of the famous Moru Kopjes and Lake Magadi. Kahawa House opened in 2019 is the latest addition to Tanganyika Wilderness Camps’ portfolio of lodges and camps. Conveniently located only four kms. from Arusha Airport. Farm House Valley was built on a 500 acre plantation with a main central building with a restaurant and leisure area. Every afternoon a fire is lit and drinks and snacks are available for guests whilst they share their experiences of the day and compare the different animals they have seen in the park.

Migunga Tented Camp is nestled in a quiet corner on the northwest of Lake Manyara. The camp is ideally situated in shade of an acacia forest, only 5 minutes from the entrance of Lake Manyara National Park. This is the ideal base camp to discover the beautiful surroundings of Lake Manyara, or pay a cultural visit to the colourful town of Mto Wa Mbu.

The camp is set in 35 acres of acacia forest and consists of 21 permanent tents on raised platforms, all with en-suite bathrooms and a private veranda overlooking the lush forest. Kwihala is set deep in the bush of Ruaha National Park. It’s the largest national park in Tanzania, with plentiful wildlife, yet it feels remote and peaceful, with fewer visitors than other parks.

Serian’s Serengeti is a mobile camp, and our movement is governed by the wildebeest migration. Jabali Ridge is a stylish camp in the wildlife-rich Ruaha National Park, set on a rocky outcrop overlooking the Mwagusi River and Ikuka escarpment.  A landscape of sun-bleached plains, mighty baobabs and hardy shrubs, Ruaha is home to large numbers of lion, elephant, buffalo and even endangered African wild dogs. During the rainy season, visitors can hear the incredible thundering of the Ikuka waterfalls and even witness the Mwagusi beginning to flow after being dry for seven months. The dry season is equally exciting, with opportunities to spot buffalo herds in the riverbed and elephants digging in the sand for water. 

Kirurumu Serengeti South Camp is a luxury mobile camp, moved seasonally to take best advantage of the vast Serengeti. The camp is used as a base, a spring board for an early morning game drive, a break for a sumptuous lunch, a respite from the heat of the day and the finale to a days adventure where stories can be swapped around a fire. As a small and intimate camp the staff are on hand just to look after a very limited number of guests and so the level of attention and service is always excellent.

After enjoying a long leisurely game drive between herds of wild animals and along miles of Africa’s seemingly endless roads, you come over a slight rise and the lodge appears almost immediately below you.  Built to blend in with the vastness of its surroundings, Tarangire Sopa Lodge lies hidden among the kopjes, ancient baobab and grasses of the Tarangire National Park - home to the greatest concentration of elephants in Africa. Many can be seen around the lodge, allowing visitors a close encounter.

Crater Forest is a small tented camp located on a highland coffee plantation at an altitude of 1800 m, directly bordering the Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area (NCAA). The camp is a 10 kilometer drive away from the main road leading from Karatu town to the famous Ngorongoro Crater, offering you some nice views of the surrounding hills and coffee plantations.

Crater Forest Tented Camp is operated as a small scale eco-friendly camp with only 15 spacious tented rooms, with en-suite bathrooms with a hot shower and flush toilet. There is even an African-style fire pot in every room, to keep warm at night during the chilly African winter times. The rooms are all set on highly raised platforms offering some magnificent views over the Ngorongoro Forest. Set on one of the most stunning stretches of the Great Ruaha River, you can see game throughout the day from the comfort of your veranda; there can surely be few other camps as perfectly situated. Ruaha is split across two locations, with one dining banda along the river, and the other perched high on a nearby kopje, offering a completely different perspective.

Mbali Mbali Gombe located in Gombe Stream National Park, a thin strip of ancient montane forest bordering the second deepest lake in the world, Lake Tanganyika. This park was made world-famous for the primate studies conducted by pioneering British researcher Jane Goodall. Prepare yourself for a truly remarkable experience of chimpanzees and nature in one of the most untouched parks in Tanzania. 

Located adjacent to the famous Serengeti National Park Western Corridor and Grumeti River, set high on the saddle of a tree-clad ridge, commanding panoramic views, the lodge has been designed to blend into the landscape.

Accommodation is in a series of two storey domed thatched ‘rondavels, each stone built, and consisting of a private balcony and entrance, spacious bedroom, natural stone bathroom and intricately carved furniture.

The rondavels are widely spaced throughout the grounds, which are cooled by groves of acacia trees and watered by sparkling streams.  On the very edge of the ridge is a ‘vanishing horizon pool offering a perfect vista over the endless plains after which the Serengeti is named.

Linked by shaded walkways and clustered around the central circular barbecue arena, the high domed halls of the two tier dining room are supported by massive papyrus-topped pillars and embellished with sumptuous traditional ‘Makonde carvings.  The scenic safari bar opens outside onto a circular timbered terrace, which looks out over the grounds towards the swimming pool.

Breakfast and lunch are presented in buffet-style and feature a wide range of international choices.   In typical safari style, a full English Breakfast as well as European options are served, while lunch menus will typically include meat, poultry, fish and vegetarian options.

The table dhôte dinner menus feature a salad buffet, soup, entrée, pudding, cheese and biscuits and tea or coffee.  Vegetarian options are always available.   The majority of the meat and dairy products, as well as fruits and vegetables, are sourced from the communities that surround the reserve.

The wine list offers a broad selection of old- and new-world wines, and local and imported beers and spirits.   Also available are a wide range of soft drinks, including an array of freshly made local fruit juices, fine Tanzanian coffee and tea, and fruit and herbal infusions.  Breakfasts, lunches, dinners and cocktails are also served in the bush at a number of dedicated sites, which are typically presented with tables, safari chairs, bush bar and a bush kitchen.  

In the evening, you can socialise with other guests around a traditional camp fire while sipping cocktails before enjoying a lamp lit dinner.   A broad range of meats, poultry, fish and vegetables are cooked on site (supplemented by fresh soups, salads and puddings from the hotel kitchens).
 
Situated close to the world famous 2 million year old paleolithic site of Ol Duvai, ‘birthplace of mankind, the lodge has been styled to offer a showcase of Masai dance and music cultural performance, heritage and traditional art, which is best illustrated by the Makonde carvings decorating both the rooms and the domed dining hall.

Lemala Ewanjan is an authentic intimate tented camp set in a secluded part of the game-rich Seronera Valley in Central Serengeti. The Seronera region is an important wildlife transition zone between the southern grasslands and the northern woodlands and is renowned for its year-round game viewing due to its abundance of water in the many rivers, as well as for its large populations of resident big cats. Additionally, between April and June, and again between November and January, this area is crossed by the annual wildebeest migration, which provides always thrilling wildlife drama.

You can see from this outcrop, the Kogakuria Kopje, for miles and miles. Mafia Island is the largest of a small archipelago of islands and atolls and is truly a paradise in the Indian Ocean. It is the southern most of three islands (Pemba & Zanzibar) located off the coast of Tanzania. 25kms from the mainland and 130kms from Dar es Salaam, it is reachable by light aircraft in 35 minutes or 45 minutes from Zanzibar and the Selous Game Reserve. The resident population of 46,000 are mainly fishermen or smallholder farmers that grow coconut, paw-paw, rice and cassava. The islanders are friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere relaxed and laid-back. The dominant religion is moderate Islam and both christians and muslims live in peace and harmony. The air and sea temperatures remain warm all year round with the rainy season between April to June. On a small peninsula overlooking Lake Nzerakera, Roho ya Selous is in the heart of Nyerere National Park (formerly Selous Game Reserve), the largest reserve in Africa and home to one of the biggest populations of wild dogs on the continent.

Wild and remote Lake Natron lies in the northeast of Tanzania in between the Ngorongoro Highlands and Serengeti plains. Here it is the landscape rather than the animals that is the attraction – the area around the lake inhabited by Maasai is dry, desolate and hauntingly beautiful.

Situated at the base of Africa’s only active volcano Oldonyo Lengai (Mountain of God), Lake Natron is one of the most alkaline lakes in the world. The lake is home to millions of tiny crustaceans, attracting literally thousands of lesser flamingo’s and it is therefore one of the most important flamingo breeding grounds on earth.

Unique in its setting, Lake Natron Tented Camp is set back in a grove of trees adjacent to the shores of the lake. Basic but clean safari tents offer showers, comfortable beds and a private veranda. Tarangire country is big and bold: our camp is the opposite...a little gem. Full of heart and soul, and  tucked into a grove of secluded riverside bush, it is so much at one with the wild that animals hardly look up as they do their thing around us. Elephants often pass right through camp, and we can be completely absorbed into their secret lives, from the sweet comfort of our sun-slatted living space.

With views of the Kilimajaro and the endless plains of the African savannah, Kambi ya Tembo is a spectacular camp situated on the north face of the Kilimanjaro with fantastic views of Amboseli and where one can enjoy the wildlife in the front line.

The camp is located in Sinya, a 600 square kilometres concession which offers incomparable scenery with magnificent views of the Kilimanjaro, Mount Meru and the Ol Doinyo Longido and Ol Doinyo Orok peaks. It is one of the only places in Africa where one can observe large bull elephants more than 50 years old with enormous tusks.

The Maasai settlements, known as “bomas”, are scattered around Sinya. The Maasai in Sinya continue to live traditionally, dressed in their colourful blankets and celebrating their traditional ceremonies. They aren’t as used to seeing tourists more common in other areas visited by visitors.

Situated between the centre and south of Serengeti. Between December and March this is the most important area of the Migration spectacle. The camp has three different locations during the year depending on the movements of the Migration.

We are located on top of a hill in the Northern Safari Circuit of Tanzania an authentic African rural area, in Rhotia, near Karatu, just on the boundary of Ngorongoro Crater and not far from Lake Manyara National Park, and Tarangire and Serengeti National Parks.

From the private terrace of your tent you can observe the wildlife of the area. Many animals visit the lake in search of water and therefore this camp is in a privileged observation point.

Besides, this area is the principle setting of the Great Migration which takes place from December to April and the Big Five visit the area. The camp is set-up every year in a different part of the area, to make sure that you will always have the best place to see this impressive spectacle from your own tent.

In addition, the camp is ecological without losing in comfort and attention. The electricity is generated by solar panels and the water is rain water collected during the rains. All the products used are biodegradables.

Each tent is built on a raised wooden platform with a verandah from which guests can observe the wildlife visiting Lake Masek.

The bedroom area is ample and tastefully furnished.   The bathroom area with twin washbasins, a standalone bath and an outside shower is separated from the bedroom area by way of a screen, allowing you to enjoy a relaxing bath or take a shower under the stars.

The main house has a lounge and dining area and a large verandah overlooking the lake.

The lounge is decorated with comfortable sofas and armchairs grouped together to create intimacy, and meals are served in the dining area or on the verandah from which you can enjoy uninterrupted views of Lake Masek.

There are 4x4 vehicles based at the camp offering fantastic game drives in the area.    Bush breakfasts and/or cocktails can be arranged in private areas of the park upon request.

The camp is located one-hour drive from the important Olduvai archaeological site where the Leakeys made important  discoveries.  This is a visit that you should not miss.

Also, escorted hikes give you an extraordinary opportunity to walk together with a very experienced Masai Guide who will introduce you to their culture and everyday activities.   A visit to a Masai house (boma) can be arranged as well.

The mobile Olakira Migration Camp follows the wildebeest migration around the Serengeti, from the epic river crossings in the north to the southern plains where they give birth to thousands of calves each year. Stay with us to witness the greatest animal migration in the world. 

Between June and October, Olakira is in the north to witness the crossing of the Mara River. Here, watch thousands of wildebeest take a leap of faith into the water, facing hungry Nile crocodiles and cantankerous hippos. When the herds are on the move, the air is full of grunting, thudding hooves and billowing dust. From December until March, we move camp to the southern plains of the Serengeti, where the wildebeest go to give birth and graze on lush grass, and predators such as lions and cheetahs gather to prey on the young.  

Even at night, the Olakira Migration Camp experience is special. Our mesh-covered stargazing tents allow guests to sleep under a sky of glittering stars.  

Selous River Camps accommodation comprises of nine rooms and four tents. All accommodation is full board - meaning the price includes three meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) per night booked.

Along the river bank are our unique Mudhuts - each spacious Mudhut has an en-suite bathroom and a view of the Rufiji River. Or, for a more wild experience, we also have simple tents located in our woodland campsite.

In fact this is the only place in Africa where you can go hunting with these Hadzabe, the last known tribe that lives by hunting and gathering honey and fruit.

Because the camp is build with local building materials it blends in beautifully with the natural environment, and it is run with an eco-friendly approach; protecting and preserving the natural resources. Nasikia Mobile Camp has 10 tents that remain mobile throughout the year, depending on seasonal reservation requirements and location of the wildebeest migration. We endeavour to retain the uniqueness and intimacy of the camp, whilst being directed by the location, wildlife and other factors of responsible tourism. 01 June – 31 October – located at Kogatende, in the far northern areas of the Serengeti. This puts us in a great position to game drive to the Kogatende and Mara Rivers in the hope of gaining a view as the herds run the gauntlet of crocodiles as they cross the rivers. This is typically ideal, especially between mid-July and mid-September each year.

Stanley’s Kopje perches high on a rocky kopje, enjoying fine 360 degree views over the surrounding Mikumi wilderness, whilst the 12 tents are spaced around the lower perimeter of the hill, with stunning views across the plains. It’s a deeply respected tradition at Chada to escape from main camp and sleep out in the real middle of nowhere. It’s what we LOVE doing. There is no place in the world that feels like Katavi and nothing gets you quite as close to that feeling than fly camping.

We send an advance party out to pitch camp and walk you in for couple of hours, to arrive just before sunset.  The trick is to leave as much as possible behind: stuff, other people, current affairs. This is your chance to see Katavi like we did before we had a “proper” camp. (Some may argue this is the "proper" camp.)

Lemala Ngorongoro is intimately set in a delightful ancient acacia forest close to the rim of the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater. As it is located next to the quiet Lemala crater access road on the eastern side, a key advantage of staying at Lemala Ngorongoro is the quick and easy drive down on to the crater floor in the morning; Lemala guests usually have an hour’s head start over others descending via the far busier Seneto crater access road on the western rim. And of course can stay later in the afternoon before returning to camp. As Africa’s game is most active in the early morning and late afternoon this means better wildlife experiences for Lemala guests.

Game drives from camp may start as early as 6.15am and guests can be down among Ngorongoro’s abundant wildlife on the floor within 10-15 minutes – crucial for photographers who demand the best light conditions. Serian’s Serengeti is a mobile camp, and from mid-December to May, we set up on the southernmost extreme of the Serengeti’s short grass plains: prime position to spectate the wildebeest birthing season. Dramatic savannah storms sweep in nourishment and new life, and an innate primordial urge pulls the wildebeest to the site of their origins to reproduce. The plains literally come to life for the birthing season. Millions of gnus and zebra dominate the landscape, looking for the fresh green grass that follows the first rains – and to give birth to their young.

Mara Under Canvas is the closest camp to the river Mara where each year enormous columns of wildebeest cross the river, negotiating the jaws of the hungry crocodiles, in order to get to the pastures on the other side in what could be considered the climax of the Great Migration.

A CLASSIC EXPEDITIONARY CAMP IN A MILLION ACRES OF MAMMALS.

When we first pushed into Katavi way back, no one had signed the park guestbook for a decade; camp was three bedrolls and a fire. We went feral in the freedom of being amongst such concentrations of beasts. Though weve upgraded since then, with comparative luxuries like showers and silverware - we stay faithful to how that felt, and our outpost still sits amongst the elephants, bellowing hippos and tamarind trees.

Rubondo Island Camp overlooks the vast waters of Lake Victoria. As the only camp in the wild and virtually uninhabited Rubondo Island National Park, it is a truly special place to experience.
